If you have just started playing poker, you may not be familiar with all the poker hands and exactly what hand beats are another hand. Cards as ranked Ace, King, Queen, Jack, ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, and Ace (low when used) are part of a straight or straight flush. Combinations of these cards make up poker hands.

Sometimes you may win with this, but usually someone has at least a pair of cards. A pair is two cards of the same type, such as two 4s or two Kings. Three cards of the same type are known as three of a kind, sets, or trips. If you have three Kings, you have three of a kind and it beats the high cards and a pair of cards.

Above three of a kind is a straight. A straight five sequential cards of varying suits. The two of clubs, three of hearts, four of hearts, five of spades, and six of clubs are a straight. Beating a straight is a flush. A flush in poker hands is where you have five cards of the same suit. They do not have to be sequential however.

Full house poker is one of the players that has three matching cards of one type and two of another. Three Queens and two tens is a full house. Beating a full house is four of a king – four cards of one type. A straight flush that is all the same suit. The only hand that will beat that is a royal flush. A royal flush is the ten, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace of the same suit.
